Dubai's duty-free store operator reported multiple increases in Eid al-Adha sales.
Operator Dubai Duty Free increased sales during the Eid al-Adha holiday by 70 percent compared to last year. Within 48 hours, it was possible to make sales of more than $ 16 million.
This was facilitated by the fact that, in honor of the holiday, Dubai Duty Free offered a 20 percent discount to visitors to Dubai airports.
“On August 19, we recorded sales of AED 29.758 million ($ US 8.15 million), up 65% from the same day last year,” said Colm McLaughlin, chief executive officer of Dubai Duty Free.
Sales on August 20 reached $ US 8.48 million, up 70 percent from last year, he added.
