Dubai will develop sports tourism

The Dubai Sports Council and the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing have signed a memorandum of understanding that provides for the development of the sports tourism industry in the emirate. The document was signed by Hamad bin Majren, Executive Director of DTCM Business Travel, and Dr. Ahmed Saad Al Sharif, Secretary General of the Sports Council. "I am very glad to be here and sign such an important document. Sport is an integral part of the tourism industry. It strengthens Dubai's position as a place for recreation and business trips throughout the year. Since its foundation, our department has actively supported sports events. Our cooperation with The Dubai Sports Council began many years ago, but today we designate for ourselves the specific amount of joint work to develop sporting events in the emirate, ”said Ben Mejren. He clarified that the DTCM has studied the prospects for the development of Dubai as a sports destination in terms of the availability of the necessary infrastructure for events and hosting large fans of different types of physical activity.

In turn, Dr. Al Sharif also supported the initiative to enhance the status of Dubai in the sports world. “We took part in organizing world-class events over the past few years. Today, in cooperation with the DTCM, we are ready to conquer new heights. Dubai will only benefit from this,” he said. It is worth recalling that in the past the emirate hosted such important international competitions as the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and the FINA Swimming Championships. "In the near future, the emirate also does not intend to lower the bar," said Dr. Al Sharif.
