Virtual SIM-card service will be available for new iPhones in UAE

Workz Launches Virtual SIM Card Service for New iPhone Owners in United Arab Emirates

Workz Group in partnership with Truphone announced the launch of a new solution for mobile operators in the UAE. It allows owners of eSIM-enabled devices, such as the new iPhone and Apple Watch, to connect to a mobile network without the need for a physical SIM card. Users can simply select the tariff remotely.

Virtual and embedded SIM cards are a key component of the Internet of Things (IoT) networks.

Earlier, du and Etisalat operators said they were working with Apple on a solution to launch a second virtual SIM card in phones.

Analysts predict that eSIM technology, introduced in the new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, will gain popularity around the world.

Steve Alder, chief business development specialist at Truphone, said: “eSIM technology is another important milestone in telecommunications, and its impact will be felt by all participants - from consumers to chip manufacturers.”
