The first Orthodox church on the Arabian Peninsula will open the doors for parishioners

The first Orthodox church complex in the history of Christianity in the United Arab Emirates - the Holy Apostle Philip - was laid back in September 2007. The ceremony was attended by the then Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, and now the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill. Also present was the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Sharjah - His Highness Sheikh Isam bin Sakr al-Qashimi.

The renowned Ukrainian businessman, the chairman of the Advisory Board of the EDAPS (Unified State Automated Passport System) consortium, Yuri Sidorenko, became the contributor - as they call the one who provides funds for the construction of the temple.

Now the construction of the magnificent temple complex is almost complete. About 20 thousand Orthodox citizens of the CIS countries live in the UAE, and now the local community has its own parish. The significance of this event is difficult to overestimate. After all, the fact that the local government approved the design of the temple in its original form - with domes and crosses - testifies: the United Arab Emirates are committed to a constructive dialogue with representatives of other faiths.

Another highlight of the unique complex in Sharjah is that in the cultural and educational center that will open at the temple, parishioners will be able to see holographic copies of the legendary Orthodox shrines - unique icons whose originals are stored in churches of Russia, Ukraine and in private collections - the gift of "EDAPS".

What prompted Yuri Sidorenko to assist in the construction of the temple complex? The Chairman of the EDAPS Advisory Board says this: “In my opinion, if a business stably brings high income, this is not enough to say to myself with satisfaction: I have succeeded. The main criterion, I think, is different: does this business bring the world along with material and spiritual values? That's what we should strive for. "

The business combination, which is a consortium, is a unique company, which has no analogues in the world today. “We have set ourselves the task,” says Yuriy Grigoryevich, “to promote the development of modern technologies and production in Ukraine. The EDAPS consortium has been created and is effectively working in the country, equipped with the most modern equipment for the development and manufacture of highly secure identification documents at the level of world standards.”

The performance of EDAPS was praised as one of the members of the Global Growth Companies community, assigned to the consortium by the directorate of the World Economic Forum (note: The World Economic Forum is a Swiss non-governmental organization, known, in particular, for annual meetings in Davos).

Yury Sidorenko has no doubt that business growth and spiritual development can and must be combined. On the contrary, I’m sure: a businessman can be considered successful only when his ideas and activities help make the world a better place. “As they say, religion reveals a person’s own multidimensionality. And an entrepreneur, realizing this, does not have the right to completely devote himself to the implementation of business projects. He cannot look at money as the main goal, clearly realizing that it’s only a means to be used to people, "said Yury Sidorenko, chairman of the EDAPS Consortium Advisory Board.
