The jellyfish season began on the beaches of Dubai

A huge number of eared jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) appeared on the beaches of Dubai. A similar "invasion" has already been observed off the coast of the emirate in 2008. Usually, jellyfish appear off the coast of the Persian Gulf in April-May and September-October. However, over the past six years they have been a fairly rare occurrence. Scientists associate the migration of organisms characteristic of the tropical zone with climate change.

Jellyfish - translucent creatures of a pinkish-purple hue can be found both near the coast and at sea depth. They feed on plankton, at a “meeting” with a bather they can sting him, causing itching, burns and redness of the skin. In case of a bite, the affected area should be sprinkled with vinegar and covered with a clean, dry cloth. With increased skin sensitivity, antihistamines must be taken.
