According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Committee, each year about five thousand applicants will take the TOEIC Bridge test lasting one hour, where they will answer 50 written and 50 voice questions.
This is necessary to make sure that taxi drivers understand passengers and can serve them at the proper level. The second test, called WorkFORCE Assessment for Job Fit, takes 25 minutes and measures the level of driver responsibility, initiative, teamwork, psychological stability, resourcefulness and sociability. After arriving in Dubai, future taxi drivers also take 22-day driving courses.
