In Dubai, more than 40 thousand prohibited items were seized from air passengers

Dubai police seized 41 thousand prohibited items from baggage of air travelers.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai police seized 41 thousand prohibited items from the luggage of passengers traveling by air from the air harbors of the emirate in July and August 2018.

Among the prohibited items were liquids, sharp objects, including needles and scissors, lighters, etc. According to law enforcement officers, transportation of prohibited items in the baggage threatens delays at checkpoints, which causes inconvenience to other passengers.

"Each month, Dubai Airport serves 10 million passengers, but their number increases during the summer holidays. If we see a prohibited item in our luggage, we call the passenger and ask us to open our suitcase," said team leader Mohammed Ahmed bin Dylan, deputy director of the Dubai Airport Security Department the police.

He noted that passengers should facilitate the work of the police and ground services of the airport so that all of them can get on time for landing. On July 17, the police launched the “Let your trip be fun” information campaign, aimed at raising passenger awareness of the rules for the carriage of goods. The campaign is conducted in collaboration with the consulates of Pakistan, India, the Philippines and Bangladesh.

Items prohibited for air transportation in baggage:

  • All kinds of narcotic drugs, including hash, cocaine, heroin, poppy and hallucinating pills.
  • Goods from boycotted countries.
  • Products of Israeli origin or with Israeli trademarks or logos.
  • Ivory and rhino horn
  • Gaming tools and equipment
  • Three-layer fishing net.
  • Original engravings, engravings, lithographs, sculptures and statues from any material.
  • Used tires.
  • Substances with radioactive contamination.
  • Anti-Islamic and extremist literature.
  • Counterfeit currency.
  • Ready and homemade food.
