Scientists from the UAE urge to abandon smartphones in the bedrooms

Scientists from the University of Sharjah found that smartphones in the bedroom cause sleep disturbance.

Dubai, UAE. Researchers from the University of Sharjah have established a direct connection between finding smartphones in the bedroom and the quality of people's sleep. The study involved about 500 people from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain: polls showed that the more people use smartphones in the bedroom, the more they have trouble sleeping.

So, those who hold the mobile device under the pillow sleep worst. In second place is the rating of sleep deprivation, users who store phones on the bedside table. Those who leave smartphones behind the bedroom door or at a great distance from the bed get the best sleep.

The report, which will be published in the journal Sleep Medicine, claims that active smartphone users fall into a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation and as a result of dependence on excessive caffeine consumption. It is curious that not only mobile phones, but also sleep monitoring devices do harm, scientists have established.

47.5% of respondents were active users of smartphones, it turned out during the study. At the same time, 81% of them complained of poor quality sleep. Studies conducted earlier showed that almost 2/3 of the inhabitants of the UAE do not get enough sleep.
