UAE Private Sector Workers Will Get More Weekend This Year

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have equalized the number of days off for the private and public sectors of the country.

March 5, 2019 it became known about a major change in the calendar of holidays of the United Arab Emirates for 2019-20 years.

The UAE Cabinet of Ministers approved holidays for the public and private sectors, giving all employees the same number of days off - a total of 14 official public holidays.

The decision is aimed at achieving a balance in the working conditions of the two sectors and supporting the national economy in various fields. This decision will help streamline work in both the public and private sectors, and will increase the attractiveness of the private sector for UAE citizens. This decision will also help citizens and residents plan ahead for their vacation.

UAE residents warmly welcomed this initiative, which, according to many, is in good agreement with the theme of the Year of Tolerance.

In 2019, public and private sector employees will enjoy the following holidays:

  • Eid al Fitr
  • Arafat Day
  • Eid al adha
  • Muslim New Year
  • Memorial Day (December 1)
  • UAE National Day (December 2-3)
