Unmanned electric cars will soon appear on the roads of Dubai

In Dubai, they are taking measures thanks to which unmanned electric vehicles will soon begin to drive through the streets of the city.

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved new test standards for electric, hybrid and unmanned vehicles. This ensures that the emirate will play an "innovative" role in the development of these technologies, and such vehicles will be able to enter the roads of Dubai in the near future.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Executive Director of the RTA Licensing Agency, said that 66 workshops were held with automakers, testing centers in Dubai and consulting companies in the UAE so that the parties could familiarize themselves with these standards and share knowledge and ideas.

During these workshops, the responsibilities of each party were clearly defined and plans were developed to ensure successful implementation, he says.

Al Ali said that technical testing standards and related technologies will be a key infrastructure factor for unmanned vehicles.
