Two children drowned in the pool at home in Dubai

In Dubai, two children drowned in the pool at home: a girl of one and a half years old and a boy of two and a half years.

In Dubai, in the Mirdif area, two children drowned in the pool, while their families were engaged in Iftar meals.

One and a half year old girl Suad and her cousin Shehab at the age of two and a half years went to play in the pool after an evening meal.

The head of the Council of Dubai Police Departments, Ahmad Fani Bin Gulayfa, said that the police immediately went to the scene after they became aware of the incident.

"Two children were relatives, they were present at the Iftar evening meal. After some time, the parents lost their children and started looking for them. They were found in the pool, the children drowned," the officer said. It is worth noting that the pool is shared by several houses.

An ambulance crew and a police patrol left for the scene, they tried to save the girl, but the efforts were in vain - the doctors registered the death.

The boy was taken to Latif Hospital, but, unfortunately, passed away the next day.

"The door from the kitchen of the house led directly to the pool. Apparently, the owner of the house, by mistake, forgot to close it," the police add.

The uncle of the children, Ahmed Al Hammadi, said that the girl’s mother was also invited to share iftar in her sister’s house in Mirdif, he himself was not in the house when an accident occurred.

"My brother called me and said that both children drowned in the pool. Suad was the only child in the family, and Shehab had a sister and three older brothers. This is tragedy and shocking news for our family," Al Hammadi said.

The children were buried on Saturday night in Khor Fakkan at Al Sharq cemetery.

“My sisters are still shocked at what happened. We have not yet recovered from my father’s death four months ago and my mother’s uncles two weeks ago,” Al Hammadi added.
