Careem has taken electric cars to its taxi fleet in Dubai.
Careem customers can now book an electric car ride in Dubai, the company announced. The service accepted a turquoise color Tesla Model S in its taxi fleet. Prices are in line with Careem's business rate and start at 60 dirhams ($ US 16.3).
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with ION, a joint venture between the UAE conglomerate Crescent Enterprises and Bee'ah.
“Attracting customers to greener vehicles is something we talk about a lot,” said Clemence Dutertre, general manager of Careem in the UAE.
He added that, in his opinion, "customers will be very happy about this new option in the application."
In October 2017, Careem's main competitor, Uber, announced the launch of UberOne, which also allows Tesla electric cars to be ordered.
