In the UAE, a man tried to get on a plane without a ticket and fly home

In the United Arab Emirates, an Indian was detained, who illegally entered the runway to fly home to his bride.

A 26-year-old Indian-born civil engineer made his way to the runway of the Sharjah Emirate International Airport, UAE, and tried to board a plane without a passport.

The man was detained. He explained his behavior as follows: "I want to say that I am a free person, and our life belongs only to us. I did this because I wanted to return to India to meet my bride, regardless of the consequences."

During the trial, the accused said that on the day of the incident he left all his belongings in the apartment, taking only his wallet, and went to the airport at night. He climbed the fence and crept to the runway to try to get on the plane. He did not buy a ticket, as his passport was kept by the employer. He was going to either get to the country without a passport and a ticket, or go to court, which in one way or another would order deportation.

The detainee told the Khaleej Times that he was in a difficult situation. He wanted to meet a bride who lives in India, and turned to his company more than 15 times, trying to get permission to visit his homeland, but his relative, who runs the company, refused the man over and over again.

"I can’t live without my bride and I want to convince my parents to give us permission to get married," he said.

The detainee also told the media that he does not regret his act and only thinks about how to get home faster and marry his bride.

Holding a passport against the will of the employee is a violation of the UAE law and international labor law. Passports can only be held for a limited period of time.
