Dubai opens a new bridge today

The bridge near Dubai Cargo Village will reduce waiting time at a busy intersection in Dubai.

Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) today, January 19, opens a new bridge at the intersection of Airport Road-Casablanca, not far from the Cargo Village building.

The new bridge will reduce waiting times for motorists at the crossroads.

“The modernization of the intersection of Airport Road and Casablanca Street includes the construction of an additional single-lane bridge to serve traffic from Airport Road towards Casablanca Street,” said Mattar Al Thayer, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.

The project includes laying an alternative route for motorists moving from Al Garhoud, which will allow them to directly reach Terminals 1 and 3 of Dubai International Airport, Al Thayer added.

The project is part of the RTA plan to service the projected increase in the number of passengers at Dubai International Airport - by 2020, the expected passenger flow will be 92 million.

Al Thayer noted that upon completion of the project, the capacity of Airport Road will increase due to an additional 5 thousand cars per hour, and the level of traffic safety will increase.

On January 5, the RTA opened two bridges at the intersection of Al Rashidiya-Airport Streets, which significantly reduced the waiting time at the intersection.

The RTA encouraged motorists to be alert, to monitor alarms and warnings at the entrance to the new bridge, and to comply with speed limits for their safety and the safety of other road users.
