Abu Dhabi travel fines can now be paid within 90 days

Abu Dhabi motorists will be given 90 days to pay fines at a discount.

On Monday, Abu Dhabi police announced that they would give motorists 90 days to pay fines for traffic violations in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi police previously announced a 50 percent discount for traffic violations and abandonment of vehicles. The initial payment term was 60 days.

However, 90 days to pay fines will be provided for traffic violations in the emirate committed after December 2, 2017.

The discount is available to all road users who violate the rules between August 1, 2016 and December 1, 2017.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the UAE Armed Forces, on Friday instructed the Ministry of the Interior to reduce fines for violating traffic rules in all UAE by 50 percent.

The police explained that this delay would not apply to violations committed after December 1.

Maj. Gen. Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumati, Commander-in-Chief of the Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Reducing fines is one of the plans of the Abu Dhabi government for 2017. This step aims to spread a road safety culture and motivates motorists to abide by the rules.”
