UAE will supply military equipment to Turkmenistan

NIMR export military armored vehicles will depart from the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan.

NIMR Automotive, a UAE subsidiary of Emirates Defense Industries Company, announced Monday its first international contract. The manufacturer of military equipment said it would export its vehicles outside the Middle East and North Africa region in agreement with the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.

The announcement was made before the Defense and Security Exhibition 2017, which takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, where the NIMR showcases a number of its vehicles.

The agreement concerns a special vehicle NIMR AJBAN (LRSOV), designed for special forces, the state-owned news agency WAM reports.

NIMR Director General Dr. Fahad Saif Harhara Al Yafei said: "Our contract with Turkmenistan is an important milestone for our company, as it confirms the quality and competitiveness of our cars in the global market."

Previously, several NIMR AJBAN 440A vehicles, provided to Turkmenistan through a government agreement, were tested before they entered service with the border security services.

Vehicles were officially delivered by the NIMR last month, and they were presented at the Independence Day parade of Turkmenistan.
