This year, 40 Dubai 5-star hotels took part in the competition. Charles Ferrer, representing the InterContinental Dubai Festival City hotel and receiving a cash prize of 15,000 drx (US $ 4076), as well as a paid trip to Congress Union Internationale des Concierges d'Hotels Congress, was recognized as the winner in the individual Concierge of the Year 2009 nomination. to be held in Portugal in January 2010. Our compatriot - Olga Pishcheva, representative of the Mina A'Salam hotel complex Madinat Jumeirah became the winner in the category "Executive Concierge of the Year." The Fairmont Dubai hotel team was awarded the “Best Concierge Team of the Year” and received an award of 24,000 drx (US $ 5621).
The first stage of the competition included checking the professional skills of concierges, during which a special commission (which the participants had no idea about) went to hotels in order to check the work of the staff and the level of customer service. At the second stage, all concierges assigned to the competition passed the test for knowledge of local traditions, culture and heritage of Dubai. A two-day test took place in September in the building of the police officer club Al Wasl. The Concierge of the Year 2009 awards were also awarded in the following nominations: Role Model, Best Communication Skills, Best Customer Service, Best Knowledge of Local Culture and Heritage, and many others.
