A maid for witchcraft is judged in Dubai

A maid from Indonesia is accused by a Dubai court of witchcraft.

On January 17, 2016, the 38-year-old Indonesian appeared in the court of first instance in Dubai on charges of witchcraft.

The woman’s employer, a businessman from Jordan, said the family found out about a secret maid practice after a pair of earrings disappeared. When the employer's sister asked the maid about the earrings, she denied that she had seen them. However, due to the fact that the maid more than once was caught stealing items from the house, family members decided to search her room.

During a search in a woman’s closet, the employer's sister discovered missing earrings and other family-owned items that everyone considered lost. Several family photographs of the employer were also discovered with pins and strange inscriptions stuck in them. The police maid admitted that she practiced witchcraft.

The verdict will be pronounced on January 31, 2016.
